Platypus
Australian Platypus Conservancy – The platypus is one of the world’s most remarkable animals. The Australian Platypus Conservancy is working hard to unlock some of the key scientific mysteries which still surround the species, and also conducts a wide range of conservation programs and environmental education initiatives.
The Platy Project ACF – You’ll never forget your first platypus encounter – and now you can help make it count for science. Each year from the 1st of September into October, take part in the platy-project and you’ll help researchers understand more about this elusive animal, and how we can better protect it.
Australian Museum – The Platypus is a unique Australian species. Along with echidnas, Platypuses are grouped in a separate order of mammals known as monotremes, which are distinguished from all other mammals because they lay eggs. When first discovered, the unusual look of a Platypus caused considerable confusion and doubt amongst European naturalists and scientists, many of whom believed that the animal was a fake.
Conservation
Australian Conservation Foundation – we can’t control the climate and extinction process by ourselves but together we can.
